Lakers crack top 5 in CJHL rankings; North Stars 13th

THUNDER BAY – The surging Fort Frances Lakers torrid play of late continues to earn them recognition at the national level.

The latest Canadian Junior Hockey League top 20 rankings released this week saw the Superior International Junior Hockey League leaders move up to fifth overall in the listings compiled in conjunction with NHL Central Scouting.

Winners of 10 consecutive games the Lakers will look to continue their winning streak tonight as they travel to Dryden to take on the Ice Dogs in a 7:30 p.m. start at Memorial Arena.

Also maintaining a place in the weekly rankings were the SIJHL’s Thunder Bay North Stars who came in at 13th overall in the CJHL.

Holding down the No. 1 ranking once again were the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Fort McMurray Oil Barons.

The other three clubs ahead of Fort Frances in this week’s listings were the Powell River Kings (BCHL), Steinbach Pistons (MJHL) and the Soo Thunderbirds (NOJHL) who were tabbed second, third and fourth respectively.
