Iron Rangers’ Corneliusen named SIJHL Play It Again Sports Player of the Week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Minnesota Iron Rangers goaltender Nick Corneliusen has been named its Play It Again Sports Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 21.

In two starts last week the 19-year-old Thief River Falls, Minn., product was pelted with an incredible 130 shots against while manning the nets for the Iron Rangers while finishing with a solid .931 save percentage in the time frame.

Included in his efforts was a 53-save performance Thursday as he registered his first SIJHL victory, a 3-2 decision over the Red Lake Miners, at Hoyt Lakes Arena.

In seven appearances so far this season, Corneliusen leads all league netminders in saves with 322.

Also earning consideration for player of the week honours was Eric Stout, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Kyle Auger, (D) Thunder Bay North Stars; Nick Lucas, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Connor Bowey, (D) Thief River Falls Norskies and Bryce Young, (F) Red Lake Miners.
