Hoth lifts Iron Rangers over Wilderness

SPOONER, Wis. – Trevor Hoth had a pair of goals and set-up two others to lead the Minnesota Iron Rangers to a 7-1 romp over the Wisconsin Wilderness Monday evening in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at the Spooner Ice House.

It was Wisconsin who grabbed the early lead in this one thanks to Darrick Howard connecting three minutes in.

Minnesota responded with a pair before the opening period was complete on efforts supplied by Jason Reynolds and Hoth.

The Iron Rangers then took control in the middle stanza with a trio of tallies off the sticks of Reynolds, Evan Erickson and Matt O’Dea.

They then put the game away in the final frame on markers from Noah Anderson and Hoth.

Erick Majerle turned aside 33 shots to pick up the win in net for Minnesota.

Griffin Strain started for Wisconsin and suffered the loss allowing five goals against on 35 attempts.

Zann Anderson stopped 15 of 17 in relief.

The same two teams meet again Tuesday in a 7 p.m. start at Hoyt Lakes Arena.
