Fort Frances moves to 6th in CJHL

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – Winners of 11 games in succession, the surging Fort Frances Lakers are starting to make a move up in Canadian Junior Hockey League Pointstreak Top 20 rankings.

The latest listings, compiled in conjunction with International Scouting Services, were released Monday and has the front runners in the Superior International Junior Hockey League jumping one notch as they were tabbed sixth overall in 131-team CJHL.

Fort Frances continues to lead the SIJHL standings with a 36-6-0-1 overall record.

The Lakers magic number to clinch the SIJHL’s regular season crown is nine.

Any combination of points earned by Fort Frances or lost by the second place Dryden GM Ice Dogs totaling nine will give the club the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Bill Salonen Cup playoffs.

The Penticton Vees (BCHL) remains the No. 1 team in the CJHL again this week.

Moving in to the No. 2 slot is the defending RBC Cup national Jr. ‘A’ champion Portage Terriers (MJHL), while the Soo Thunderbirds (NOJHL) slipped to No. 3 overall.
