By Bryan Smeltzer

Eric Vanska stopped all 38 shots that came his way for his second shutout of the season to lead the Fighting Walleye to a 5-0 victory over the visiting Wisconsin Lumberjacks. The win was Vanska’s league-leading tenth of the campaign.

Carson Gorst and Anthony Oviedo scored first period markers to put Kam River in front by 2 at the first intermission. Jeremy Dunmore and Ryan Doucette scored powerplay goals in the second period to make it 4-0 Walleye after 40 minutes. Braeden Duchesne added a third period marker to complete the scoring.

The Walleye went 3-for-9 with the man advantage, while the Lumberjacks were 0-for-6. Brydon Bell, Jeremy Dunmore, and Ethan Lang each had two point nights for the Fighting Walleye.

450 fans packed into Norwest Arena to watch the two teams battle.

These two teams meet again Saturday night at NorWest Arena, in the Walleye’s “Pink the Rink” game, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Puck drop is 7:30 PM.
