English River’s Matechuk named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions players of the week
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that English River Miners forward Landen Matechuk has been named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. player of the week for the period ending Nov. 15.
In two games last week the 20-year-old Fort Langley, B.C. product registered six points in helping the Miners pick-up three out of a four possible points in a weekend road trip in Thunder Bay.
Matechuk began by scoring a season-high four times and assisting on the game-winner in a 6-4 victory over the North Stars Friday.
One night later he tallied once more and added a helper in a 3-2 shootout setback to Thunder Bay.
On the season Matechuk leads all SIJHL skaters in offensive production with 31 points on 13 markers and 18 helpers.
Also earning consideration for Amyotte’s player of the week honours was Nick Minerva (D) Fort Frances Lakers; Riley Corbin, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars; Nic Noseworthy, (D) Dryden GM Ice Dogs and Alex Arnold (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers.
