Dryden’s Pouncy named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions players of the week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Dryden GM Ice Dogs defenceman Kyle Pouncy has been named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. player of the week for the period ending Nov. 22.

In two games the 20-year-old Kamloops, B.C. native pick up five points in helping Dryden skate to a pair of home ice victories over the weekend.

Pouncy began by tallying twice, including the game-winner, and adding an assist in a 5-1 GM Ice Dogs triumph over the Minnesota Iron Rangers Friday.

Saturday evening saw him dish out a pair of assists as Dryden topped English River 6-2.

On the season Pouncy has scored four times and helped set-up nine others for 13 points in 20 outings while also help bolster the GM Ice Dogs defensive corps and providing disciplined play having only incurred two minor penalties so far this season.

Also earning consideration for Amyotte’s player of the week honours was Nicholas Nigro (F) Thunder Bay North Stars; Landen Matechuk, (F) English River Miners and Jacob Shannon (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers.

The league-leading Fort Frances Lakers did not play last week thus did not have a nominee.
