DRYDEN, Ont. – A Trey Palermo tally with 8:18 remaining in regulation proved to be the game-winner as the Dryden GM Ice Dogs rallied from a pair of one-goal deficits to slip past the Fort Frances Lakers 3-2 Wednesday night in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Memorial Arena.
After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, Fort Frances got on the board first, 12:05 into the second stanza, as Lakers’ captain Julian Uhryniuk finished off a Noah Loveday feed to put the visitors on top.
Dryden struck quickly in the third with the equalizer as Jacen Bracko reached the 20-goal plateau on the campaign at 1:15 of the frame to knot the affair at 1-1.
However the visitors came right back just 13 seconds later with Jack Bernie giving Fort Frances the lead once more.
The back-and-forth session then saw the GM Ice Dogs level the proceedings again thanks to defenceman Cory Dennis at 10:58.
Dryden kept coming and went ahead less than a minute later with Palermo potting the difference maker as he collected his eighth goal of the season.
Evan Walls had a pair of assists to aid the GM Ice Dogs offensive cause.
Shots on goal in the contest favored Dryden 31-22 with Landon Pavlisin picking up the victory while Ismael Ralsten suffered the setback.
