Dryden rallies to edge Thunder Bay in OT

DRYDEN, Ont. –  A Nic Noseworthy goal 2:50 into overtime was the difference as the Dryden GM Ice Dogs rallied to edge the Thunder Bay North Stars 3-2 in Superior International Junior Hockey League play Sunday at Memorial Arena.

After a scoreless opening frame, Thunder Bay opened the scoring a couple minutes into the second stanza when Nicholas Nigro notched his league-leading 31st tally of the season during a man advantage opportunity.

The North Stars then went up by two midway through the session after Christian Ward collected his fifth of the campaign.

Dryden began their comeback late in the second as Braden Allkins scored at 17:38.

Allkins then forced extra time with 83 seconds remaining in regulation for his second of the contest and 16th overall.

In OT, with the two sides playing four skaters aside, Noseworthy completed the Dryden rally as he beat North Stars netminder Eric Mann to end it with his 21st marker for the GM Ice Dogs this season.

Troy Pierce made 26 saves to record the win while Mann helped his side pick-up a point by making 35 stops in defeat.
