DRYDEN, Ont. – Trygve Many Guns tallied twice and added an assist to help lead the Dryden GM Ice Dogs to a 5-1 triumph over the Thief River Falls Norskies Saturday night in their annual Pink the Rink Night in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Memorial Arena.
A late power play allowed Dryden to open the scoring with seven seconds left in the first period on an Eric Stout effort.
The GM Ice Dogs added to their lead early in the middle session with Trey Palermo lofting one from the right point that found its way past Norskies starter Bailey Schmitz.
Many Guns then blasted one past Schmitz at 5:48 to put the home side up by three after two.
Thief River Falls got one back during a man advantage 2:04 into the third as a sprawling Blake Nelson knocked in his 28th of the campaign.
However, Many Guns came right back a couple shifts later to restore Dryden’s three-goal lead with help from Jacob Siebenga and Kyle Sargent.
Stout then rounded out the scoring with 7:46 remaining as he intercepted the puck at his own blueline then darted down and buried a quick shot on net for his second of the evening and 38th overall.
Dryden goaltender Jacob Anthony was there when called upon making 49 saves, including one on a penalty shot, to record the win while Schmitz was equally as busy finishing with 54 stops in defeat.
The same two teams meet again Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. back at Memorial Arena.
