Drapluk sets up two in Prospects Games opening win
DIGBY, N.S. – Minnesota Wilderness forward Joseph Drapluk dished out two assists, including setting up the game-winner, helping Team West defeat Team East 5-0 in game one of the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s Prospects event at Digby Arena in Digby, N.S.
Guiding the West to the victory behind the bench was Wilderness head coach and general manager Rod Aldoff who is serving as head coach of the squad.
After a scoreless opening period Drapluk fed Sean McTavish of the Sherwood Park Crusaders of Alberta for a pair of tallies to send the West on their way.
Ryan Berlin (Whitecourt, AJHL) , Andrew Taverner (Sherwood Park, AJHL) and Dante Hahn (Victoria, BCHL) notched the other markers in the triumph with Marc-Olivier Daigle (Drayton Valley, AJHL) and Ty Edmonds (Virden, MJHL) combining for the shutout.
Shots on favoured favoured the East by a 30-29 margin.
The second of the two-game, total goal series goes Sunday at Mariner’s Centre in Yarmouth, N.S. and features a 2 p.m. AT start.
