CALGARY, Alta. – The Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) has announced that it is currently accepting applications of interest for the newly created position of CJHL Director of Officiating.
This part-time position does offer an honorarium as well as expenses that are covered.
Applicants should express their expectation of honorarium when submitting their application.
Interested parties in applying for the position are asked to submit resumes with a detailed list providing experiences and qualifications in officiating.
The successful candidate, will have a background in officiating in junior hockey.
The candidate will also be knowledgeable with officiating standards within the Hockey Canada National Officiating program, as it relates to the CJHL.
Professional officiating experience as well as bilingualism are considered additional assets.
The Director of Officiating will be responsible for the following tasks and duties:
• Representing the CJHL to Hockey Canada on playing rule advisement and differentiation
• Assisting with the selection of Officials for CJHL events such as the RBC Cup National Jr. A Championship, its Regional Championships (Fred Page Cup; Dudley-Hewitt Cup, ANAVET Cup & Doyle Cup) along with the World Junior A Challenge
• This individual will also be responsible for compiling a national depth chart on qualified officials working CJHL Leagues across Canada
• Advise on amendments and improvements to the Junior A supplement
• Discussion and direction on officiating standards including video preparation and distribution
• Liaise with the NHL on upcoming prospects within the CJHL program
• Co-ordinate national and provincial seminars and evaluation camps on behalf of the CJHL in conjunction with Hockey Canada
• Technical support in the way of video analysis, clipping and disseminating game footage to League offices.
