HOYT LAKES, Minn. – Boe Bjorge notched a career-high four goals and two assists while Brett Piper tallied once and doled out four helpers to help propel the Thief River Falls Norskies 8-4 Wednesday evening in Superior International Junior Hockey League action at Hoyt Lakes Arena.
After Nick Harder picked up his first SIJHL marker for the Norskies at 8:12, the Iron Rangers answered right back with Lukas Lundgren picking up his team-leading fourth a mere 22 seconds later.
Thief River Falls regained the lead however before the opening period was complete thanks to Bjorge at 19:12.
It stayed 2-1 for the visitors into the back half of the middle stanza when Piper and Bjorge wrapped goals around one by Minnesota’s Nathan Albrecht who also collected his initial league effort to make it 4-2 TRF after 40 minutes.
A high-scoring final period saw the Norskies strike four times, including a pair for Bjorge, while Bryce Johnson and Riley Bergland supplied singles.
Lundgren’s fifth of the season and one off the stick of Aaron Koivunen round out the offensive outburst for the home side.
Fletcher Bolda made 26 saves to record the win for Thief River Falls while Synjen Amende faced 48 shots in defeat for the Iron Rangers.
