4-point night for Wilde as Miners bounce Wilderness

EAR FALLS, Ont. – Brenden Wilde scored the game’s first goal and went on to add three assists to help pace the English River Miners past the Wisconsin Wilderness 6-2 Friday evening in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Ear Falls Arena.

After Wilde got things going for the home side with a power play marker at 8:41 of the first, Austin Anderson answered right back for the Wilderness less than a minute later.

Kellen MacBlain then put English River back on top with a tally at 19:28 of the session.

Wilde then helped set-up Taylor Bargar two and half minutes into the middle session in what would be the eventual game-winner as the Miners connected on a man advantage opportunity.

Billy Foy brought Wisconsin to within 3-2 at 5:51 with a power play effort only to see English River get one from Will Wickersham a couple minutes later to make it 4-2 after two periods of play.

The Miners then put the game away in the third as they got a pair of extra man markers from Devan Vander Wyk and Ryker Moreau to round out the scoring.

Moreau and Chris Hrabec both doled out a couple helpers apiece to aid the English River cause.

Greg Harney made 23 saves to pick up the win in net for the Miners, who fired 32 attempts on Griffin Strain in the Wilderness goal.

SIJHL play continues Saturday with Wisconsin heading to Fort Frances to take on the Lakers in a 7:30 p.m. start at Ice for Kids Arena.
