3-point night for Halterman in Dryden road victory in Red Lake

RED LAKE, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs got a goal and two assists from Xavier Halterman to help propel his side to a 4-1 triumph over the Red Lake Miners Saturday in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Cochenour Arena.

Halterman got Dryden going nine minutes into the contest as he notched his 12th tally of the campaign that allowed the guests to take the lead into the first intermission.

The GM Ice Dogs added to that early in the second stanza as Macrae Setoguchi got it over to Ben Hackl in the slot, who promptly wired in a shot for his first SIJHL marker.

Red Lake cut into the deficit midway through the night during a two-man advantage as Keilan Toews fed Bryce Krauter for a one-timer on the right side to put the hosts on the board.

Dryden got that back late in the session though when Evan Pakkala finished off a two-on-one with Justin Pitari.

They then secured the victory with a shorthanded goal from Dylan Winsor, six and a half minutes into the third, to round out the night’s scoring.

GM Ice Dogs netminder Jacob Anthony made 29 saves to record the win while Zach Willms faced 25 shots against in defeat for the Miners.
