Zubick stops 57 to backstop Dryden win vs. English River

COCHENOUR, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs got a tremendous 57-save performance from goaltender Patrick Zubick to backstop his side to a 5-2 victory over the English River Miners Tuesday evening in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match-up at Cochenour Arena.

Dryden picked up the lone marker of the opening period as Jacen Bracko notched his 22nd of the season at 5:25.

The visitors then went up by a pair 9:17 into the second stanza on a Braedyn Aubin effort.

The Miners got on the board just under five minutes later compliments of Sidney Gladue, who scored for the 18th time for English River.

Special teams allowed Dryden to go back up by two later in the frame when Braeden Allkins converted during a man advantage opportunity at 18:55.

Kaden Hintz would bring the home side back to within one with 8:17 remaining in regulation.

The Miners pulled netminder Michael Lenko in the late going in an effort to force overtime, but Dryden got empty net markers from Bracko and Eric Stout to secure the win.

Aubin chipped in with two assists for the GM Ice Dogs to finish with a three-point night.

Final shots on goal in the contest favoured English River 59-36 with Zubick posting the triumph and Lenko the loss.
