Wilderness roll over Iron Rangers 8-2

HOYT LAKES, Minn. – The Minnesota Wilderness got two goals apiece from Mike Dietrich, Jake Larson and Joseph Drapluk en route to an 8-2 triumph over the Minnesota Iron Rangers Friday in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Hoyt Lake Arena.

The two sides both tallied twice in the opening period with Drapluk and Larson scoring for the Wilderness while Jay Routheau and Trevor Hoth countering for the Iron Rangers.

A five-goal second period put the league-leading Wilderness well in control as they went up 7-2 after 40 minutes.

Dietrich had two of the markers with Drapluk, Larson, Conrad Sampair and Jordan Shockley supplying singles.

Larson wrapped up the night’s scoring with an early third period effort.

JoJo Jeanetta turned aside 27 of 29 attempts he faced to pick up the win in net for Wilderness.

Patrick Anderson started for the Iron Rangers and suffered the loss facing 16 shots.

Chase Hollander stopped 16 of 17in relief.
