Two-goal 3rd lifts Lakers over Miners

EAR FALLS, Ont. – The Fort Frances Lakers got a pair of third period goals from Nolan Ross to help them rally for a 4-3 victory over the English River Miners Friday in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Ear Falls Arena.

Fort Frances got off to a good start as the visitors grabbed a 2-0 lead on markers via A.J. Rupert on the power play and Cole Tymkin at even strength.

Alex Maticic got one back for the Miners in the latter stages of the stanza thanks to a man advantage effort at 17:46

English River built on that in the middle session and tacked on tallies from Brandon Schaber and another from Maticic to take a 3-2 cushion into the third.

Ross would tie the game for the Lakers 4:42 into the final session before notching the game-winner with six and a half minutes remaining in regulation.

Dylan Robinson dished out a pair of assists for Fort Frances to extend a consecutive game point streak to 13.

Shots on goal in the contest favoured the  Lakers 39-27 with Brandon Bodnar picking up the win and Korlan Vader the loss.
