Strong 2nd sends Dryden past Minnesota

DRYDEN, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs used the strength of five second period goals to help them defeat the Minnesota Iron Rangers 6-2 Saturday in Superior International Junior Hockey League action at Dryden Memorial Arena.

Woody Galbraith’s first SIJHL tally gave the home side the lead with the lone marker of the opening session.

Dryden then blew the game open in the second striking five times .

Tanner Watt had a pair of shorthanded efforts for the GM Ice Dogs while Kyle Pouncy and Derek McPhail supplied power play goals and Troy Williams had one at even strength.

Minnesota manged to get two goals in the third from Tristan Knott and Alex Arnold, but it was little too late for the Iron Rangers.

Dryden outshot Minnesota 45-25 on the night with Paul Laferriere earning the victory and Kyle Carignan the loss.
