THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday the game schedule for its upcoming first-round quarter-final playoff match-up between the No. 4 seeded English River Miners and the No. 5 Fort Frances Lakers.
All games in this best-of-five affair will feature 7:30 p.m. CT start times.
English River will serve as the home side for Games 1 & 2 at Cochenour Arena with the opener set for Wednesday, March 21 while the next contest goes Thursday, March 22.
The series will then shift to Ice for Kids Arena in Fort Frances for Game 3 on Saturday, March 24.
Should a Game 4 be required, it would be held on Monday, March 26, back in Fort Frances.
If the match-up goes the distance, Game 5 is slated for Wednesday, March 28 with Cochenour Arena being the venue and the Miners having home ice.
The SIJHL’s other first round playoff get together will feature the No. 3 seeded side taking on the No. 6 Minnesota Iron Rangers in another best-of-five event.
That schedule will be announced by the league once the No. 3 seed is determined and the game dates are finalized.
Earning first round byes will be the top two teams at the conclusion of regular season play.
