Pupplo’s 44 stops aids Iron Rangers in win over Miners

EAR FALLS, Ont. – The Minnesota Iron Rangers got a stellar 44-save performance from Anthony Pupplo to backstop the Minnesota Iron Rangers to a 3-1 victory over the English River Miners Saturday in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Ear Falls Arena.

Tristyn Sabina opened the scoring for Minnesota with his seventh of the season at 16:47 of the opening period.

The Iron Rangers tacked on two more in the middle stanza to go up by three after 40 minutes courtesy a man advantage effort from Isaiah Olschewske along with an even strength goal courtesy of Austin Ramirez.

Keaton Huot had a pair of assists for Minnesota in the win.

Pupplo did the rest allowing only a Braeden Pearce power play tally with 58 seconds left that spoiled his shutout bid late.

Reid Kilburn faced 34 shots in defeat for the Miners.

SIJHL action resumes Sunday evening as the Iron Rangers travel to Dryden to take on the GM Ice Dogs in a 7:30 p.m. start at Memorial Arena.
