Miners’ Austin Kuhn commits to Adrian College of ACHA

RED LAKE, Ont. – The English River Miners of the Superior International Junior Hockey League is sending another player to compete collegiately in the U.S.

Forward Austin Kuhn will attend school at Adrian College in Michigan and play for the Bulldogs American Collegiate Hockey Association side.

The 20-year-old Kuhn hails from Slave Lake, Alta., and served as an assistant captain for the Miners this past season.

In 56 games, Kuhn collected 50 points for English River on 20 goals and 30 assists to finish fourth on the club in offensive production.

He was also a point-per-game player in the playoffs with nine in as many outings on four tallies and five helpers.

“Austin exemplifies our HIC culture and what it means to be a Miner,” stated English River head coach and general manager Derek Sweet-Coulter.

β€œHe always thinks of others before himself and is one of the most unselfish people I have ever coached. I personally would like to thank Austin for being a community leader for our youth and always working as hard as he possibly could on the ice to set a good example for everyone. Austin deserves this opportunity and I couldn’t be more happy for him.”
