North Stars’ Turner named SIJHL’s most improved player
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday that Kenny Turner of the Thunder Bay North Stars has been named the SIJHL’s most improved player for the 2015-16 campaign.
Turner edged out fellow MIP finalists Roshen Jaswal of the Fort Frances Lakers and Tristyn Sabina of the Minnesota Iron Rangers for the accolades, in balloting completed by each of the SIJHL’s member clubs.
In 46 regular season contests, the 20-year-old Thunder Bay native produced nearly a point-per-game with 42 on 10 goals and 32 assists.
That was double the total the North Stars captain amassed last season where he picked up 21 points, including eight tallies, in 52 outings.
Turner becomes just the second North Stars player in the 15-year history of the SIJHL to garner league most improved player laurels.
He joins Sam Dubinsky who captured the award back in 2010-11.
