Miners’ Kilburn named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions player of the week
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that English River Miners goaltender Reid Kilburn has been named the Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. player of the week for the period ending Jan. 31.
In two appearances last week at the SIJHL Showcase, the 20-year-old Kelowna, B.C. product was the busiest of all league netminders facing on average of 43 shots against in his two starts.
Kilburn began by making 38 stops in regulation and overtime, plus two more in the shootout, guiding English River to a 4-3 triumph over the Minnesota Iron Rangers on Wednesday.
The following day he faced his second-highest shot total of the season, seeing 45 pucks fired his way keeping his side in it in a 4-3 setback against the league-leading Fort Frances Lakers.
Overall finished the week with a solid .919 save percentage while also lowering his overall average and raising his save mark with his efforts.
Also earning consideration for Amyotte’s player of the week honours was Dylan Robertson, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Jake Ellingson, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers; Nic Noseworthy (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs and Eric Mann, (G) Thunder Bay North Stars.
