Lakers win 4th straight

DRYDEN, Ont. –  Pierce Dushenko stopped all 25 shots he faced while Robbie Bonthron had a goal and an assist to help lead the Fort Frances Lakers to their fourth Superior International Junior Hockey League victory in a row as they blanked the Dryden GM Ice Dogs 4-0 Wednesday evening at Memorial Arena.

Making his Lakers’ 2015-16 debut, Jack Bernie supplied the only tally Fort Frances would require 10:48 into the contest.

Two and a half minutes later though the Lakers added another as Dylan Robertson struck shorthanded to put the visitors up by two after one period of play.

Starting the second on the power play, Fort Frances made it 3-0 just 22 seconds into the stanza as Bonthron bagged his first of the season.

The Lakers then secured the victory with their fourth marker of the night late in regulation on a Julian Uhryniuk effort at 17:17 of the third.

Dustin Deugau and Ryley Bosman chipped in with two assists in aiding the offensive cause for the winners.

The triumph was the fourth straight for Fort Frances as they improved to 7-1-0-0 on the season.

Paul Laferriere faced 37 shots in defeat for Dryden who fell to 5-2-1-0 overall.
