Lakers re-sign goaltender Bodnar

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – The three-time defending Superior International Junior Hockey League champion Fort Frances Lakers announced Thursday that they have re-signed goaltender Brandon Bodnar for the 2016-17 season.

The 18-year-old Fort Frances product had a tremendous rookie campaign for the Lakers in 2015-16.

Bodnar finished with a solid 18-4 record and led all SIJHL netminders in both goals-against average and save percentage at 1.94 and .935 respectively. He also posted two shutouts.

“Brandon is a competitor,” Fort Frances head coach and general manager Wayne Strachan.

“He prepares himself and is a focused player,” added Strachan.

“His play spoke for itself. He worked hard all season in practice and that showed in his play. He battles, is square to pucks and makes those crucial saves teams need to have success important games. Brandon will be looked upon in a big way this coming season to be the leader between the pipes.”
