Lakers’ Dylan Robertson named Gongshow Gear SIJHL playoff MVP

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Saturday that Fort Frances Lakers forward Dylan Robertson has been named the Gongshow Gear SIJHL most valuable player for the 2016 playoffs.

The now 21-year-old from Atlanta, Ga., had a tremendous postseason for Fort Frances helping them capture their third straight Bill Salonen Cup SIJHL championship after defeating the Dryden GM Ice Dogs in six well-played contests.

Robertson led all SIJHL skaters in goals and points with 10 and 17 respectively in 10 postseason outings.

Five of his markers came on the power play and he also had two game-winning tallies to his credit.

Robertson was earlier named a SIJHL CCM Hockey first team all-star and the league’s top defensive forward recipient as well as the league’s Amyottes’ Awards & Promotions MVP for his efforts during the regular season.

He will receive a gift package courtesy for his efforts, courtesy of Gongshow Gear Inc., the SIJHL’s official lifestyle hockey apparel partner and sponsor of the league’s performer of the month and playoff MVP awards.

The Lakers will now gear up for the Dudley-Hewitt Cup Central Canada Jr. A championship, May 3-7, in Kirkland Lake, Ont.

Fort Frances will be joined by the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League and defending Dudley-Hewitt Cup champion Soo Thunderbirds, the Trenton Golden Hawks, title holders of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, as well as the host Kirkland Lake Gold Miners of the NOJHL.
