Lakers’ Dushenko blanks North Stars 3-0
FORT FRANCES, Ont. – Pierce Dushenko turned aside all 27 shots he faced to backstop the Fort Frances Lakers to a 3-0 shutout victory over the Thunder Bay North Stars Saturday in Superior International Junior Hockey League action at Ice for Kids Arena.
The game was scoreless until past the midway point of the contest when Fort Frances got one off the stick of Carter Chorney at 11:05 of the second to give the Lakers the only goal they would need on this night.
Special teams allowed the home side to add another three minutes into the third on a power play blast by Dustin Deugau.
Ryley Bosman then added some insurance with 9:32 to go to round out the scoring.
Dushenko did the rest to record his second shutout of the season.
Riley Corbin faced 35 shots in the loss for the North Stars.
