Lakers 11th; GM Ice Dogs honourable mention in CJHL rankings

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The top two teams in the Superior International Junior Hockey League standings have one again drawn recognition from the Canadian Junior Hockey League  in terms of the Pointstreak weekly rankings announced Monday.

The SIJHL-leading Fort Frances Lakers moved up five slots in the rankings to No. 11 overall in the 131-team CJHL while the second place Dryden GM Ice Dogs secured honourable mention status for another week in the listings, which are compiled in conjunction with International Scouting Services.

Fort Frances has won three straight games and top the SIJHL standings with a 6-1 record.

Dryden is right behind the Lakers having gone 5-1-1 early on with both clubs also holding three games in hand on their nearest rivals.

As the current lone unbeaten team in the CJHL, the second-year Powassan Voodoos (NOJHL) were slotted in as the No. 1 team in the CJHL this week.

The Voodoos are sitting with a perfect 9-0 record in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League standings.

The Trenton Golden Hawks (OJHL) dipped to No. 2 in the CJHL this week while the Spruce Grove Saints (AJHL) moved to No. 3.
