Ice Dogs remain unbeaten
HOYT LAKES, Minn. – Kim Waldhaber turned aside all 26 shots he faced to backstop the Dryden Ice Dogs to a 3-0 victory over the Minnesota Iron Rangers Friday in Superior International Junior Hockey League action at Hoyt Lakes Arena.
Following a scoreless first period the Ice Dogs’ Tyler Walsh struck on the power play 3:22 into the middle frame with the eventual game-winning goal.
Dryden, currently listed 6th nationally in the latest Canadian Junior Hockey League Top 20 rankings, tacked on two late tallies in the final stanza to put the game away.
Chris Belhumeur, who leads the SIJHL in scoring, notched his league-best seventh of the campaign with six minutes to go then set-up Patrick Murphy with an insurance marker at 15:46 to round out the scoring.
Chase Hollander made 32 saves in a losing cause for the Iron Rangers.
With the win the Ice Dogs improved to 5-0 on the year while Minnesota slipped to 2-3.
