Game 2 in North Stars – Iron Rangers playoff series moved to Tuesday

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Sunday evening that game 2 of the opening round playoff series between the Thunder Bay North Stars and Minnesota Iron Rangers, originally scheduled for Monday at 7 p.m. at Hoyt Lakes Arena, has been postponed due to the impending arrival of Winter Storm Ukko that is expected to bring blizzard like conditions on most parts of Minnesota and the region over the next 24 hours.

The game will now be played on one day later and is set for Tuesday, March 19 with the same start time of 7 p.m. in Hoyt Lakes.

Thunder Bay leads the best-of-three series 1-0 after taking the opener Saturday backed by North Stars’ netminder Jayme Brattengeier’s 34-save shutout.

The winner will meet the No. 1 seed Minnesota Wilderness in one league semifinal, which is expected to get underway March 22-23 in Cloquet, Minn., the home of the Wilderness.

The SIJHL’s other semifinal features the No. 2 Fort Frances Lakers taking on the No. 3 Dryden Ice Dogs begins March 21-22 at Ice for Kids Arena in Fort Frances.
