Dryden’s Unruh named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions players of the week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Dryden GM Ice Dogs goaltender Taylor Unruh has been named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. player of the week for the period ending Nov. 8.

In two starts last week the 18-year-old Regina, Sask., product won both of them helping the GM Ice Dogs earn a road sweep of the Minnesota Iron Rangers.

Unruh began by stopping 26 of the 27 shots he faced in a 3-1 triumph at Minnesota Friday.

Saturday night he made 26 more stops in a 5-2 triumph over the Iron Rangers in Hoyt Lakes.

Unruh currently leads all SIJHL netminders in goals-against average at 1.98 and sits second in save percentage at .920.

Also earning consideration for Amyotte’s player of the week honours was Pierce Dushenko, (G) Fort Frances Lakers; Kenny Turner, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars; Konnar Dechaine, (F) English River Miners and Tristyn Sabina (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers.
