Dryden rolls over Thief River Falls

DRYDEN, Ont. – Jacen Bracko scored twice and helped set-up two others as the Dryden GM Ice Dogs rolled over the Thief River Falls Norskies 8-1 Saturday evening in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match-up at Memorial Arena.

The GM Ice Dogs carried the play in the opening 20 minutes, but the session was scoreless despite the home side holding a 14-6 edge in shots.

Dryden did get rolling in the second as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead on a pair of markers from Bracko and singles courtesy of Zac Schlitt and Braedyn Aubin.

The Norskies got one back before the middle stanza was complete thanks to Michael Johnson’s first SIJHL goal.

Special teams allowed Dryden to put the game away in the third as they tacked on four power play goals to secure the victory.

Allkins and Cory Dennis had one each while Eric Stout notched a pair of tallies as the GM Ice Dogs improved to 2-0 early in the season.

Derek McPhail had three assists to aid the winner’s cause.

Ben Dennis only had to make nine saves to record his initial league triumph in net for Dryden.

Ryan Buttazzoni and Sam Novak allowed four each in a losing cause for Thief River Falls facing 49 shots overall in defeat.
