Aubin scores 3 in Dryden win over English River

COCHENOUR, Ont. – Braedyn Aubin picked up a hat trick to help lead the Dryden GM Ice Dogs to a 7-2 victory over the English River Miners in a Superior International Junior Hockey League contest held at Cochenour Arena.

Derek McPhail and Kyle Pouncy got Dryden off to a quick 2-0 lead before the game was a minute and a half old.

The Miners got one back at 2:12 thanks to Daniel Szpakowski only to see Braedyn Allkins collect the eventual game-winner on the the power play at 10:48.

Aubin and Ben Smaha added efforts in the middle frame to put the visitors up 5-1 after 40 minutes.

Aubin’s second of the night at 11:38 of the third came on a GM Ice Dogs man advantage opportunity.

The Miners got one back at 16:30 thanks to a Konnor Dechaine man advantage effort before Aubin wrapped up the night’s scoring with 89 seconds left.

Blake Berg and Matt Houston had two assists each for Dryden.

The GM Ice Dogs outshot English River 47-21 overall with Taylor Unruh picking up the win

Korlan Vader started for the Miners and suffered the loss allowing four against on 24 shots in early 25 minutes of work.

Reid Kilburn stopped 20 of 23 in relief.
