North Stars Corbin named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions player of the week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Thunder Bay North Stars goaltender Riley Corbin has been named Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. player of the week for the period ending Nov. 29.

In his club’s lone appearance last week the 20-year-old Thunder Bay native stood tall stopping all 30 shots he faced in backstopping the North Stars to a 3-0 road shutout of the first place Fort Frances Lakers Saturday night at Ice for Kids Arena.

It was first time the league-leading Lakers have been kept off the score sheet all season as well as since Oct. 14, 2014.

Corbin has now won his past three starts going 3-0 with a 0.97 goals-against average and a .971 save percentage in that span.

Also earning consideration for Amyotte’s player of the week honours was Kyle Carignan (G) Minnesota Iron Rangers; Dylan Robertson, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Braedyn Aubin, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs and Alex Maticic (F) English River Miners.
