3 points for Varrin as Ice Dogs dump North Stars

DRYDEN, Ont. – Chris Varrin scored the winning goal and set-up two others to help lead the Dryden Ice Dogs to a 5-2 victory over the visiting Thunder Bay North Stars Sunday in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Memorial Arena.

Dryden got off to a good start in this one tallying twice in the opening 20 minutes on markers supplied by Nolan Kinney and Chris Sitco.

Each side notched two goals apiece in the middle session with Varrin and Adam Smith connecting for the Ice Dogs and Brandon Mihalus as well as Daniel Del Paggio replying for the North Stars.

Varrin then fed Dane Feeney for the final tally of the night at 6:36 of the third to round out the scoring.

Joakim Jutras registered the win for Dryden making 28 stops overall.

Thunder Bay starter Eric Mann faced 43 shots in a losing cause.
